What is the Lexington Downtown Area Master Plan?
LFUCG is excited to work with the community to refresh our shared vision for downtown! Through this plan, we will work with residents, businesses, students, and visitors to continue making downtown the heart the Bluegrass. Through an extensive local outreach process that includes community events, online surveys, and in-person events, we will plan together to accomplish the following:
Establish an actionable vision and strategies for Downtown Lexington.
A Housing and Market Conditions Analysis Report that evaluates demand, development potential, and strategies to promote affordability and mixed-use growth.
Recommendations for updated Zoning Regulations.
Mobility and Connectivity improvements making downtown a more walkable, human-scale, and livable community.
Recommendations for opportunities for funding, including both private and governmental sources.
An actionable implementation plan with defined roles, timelines, funding opportunities, and performance metrics to guide execution.
How to Get Involved
Community engagement is the foundation of the Lexington Downtown Area Master Plan. Throughout this process, there will be several opportunities to give us your feedback, both online and in person. Please visit this website regularly and stay tuned to regular updates on LFUCG’s social media as we announce more information.

Three Community Meetings will be held at key milestones over the course of the planning process to inform the public, gain insight, and build support for the plan’s outcomes. These meetings will start in October of 2025 through the spring of 2026 and will serve as an avenue for the Planning Team to share the work process to date, have discussions with attendees, and host interactive activities to gather feedback.
